Take a walk through Granada's old quarter near the Cathedral, which is the area that has changed the most in terms of urban planning since the conquest, comprising the Cathedral, the Royal Chapel, the Lonja merchant's market, the Madrassah and the Royal Chancellery. To complete the tour, we have chosen to explore the area that best represents Granada's Muslim past: the lower Albaicín neighbourhood (declared a World Heritage Site in 1994) and the Carrera del Darro riverside promenade for its evocative power. The two areas are separated by the Gran Via avenue which reflects the modern changes of the 19th century.
The Guided Walk “Between Islam and Christianity” traces the events that marked the history of this city with significant figures such as the Catholic Monarchs and Charles V, monuments such as the Alhambra and the Generalife, the Moorish tragedy, the Mudejar style, the Albaicín neighbourhood of yesterday and today and its urban structure, the hydraulic system, the Carmenes (houses with garden patios) and other typical forms of housing.
Around the Cathedral, the Alcaicería silk bazaar, the Madrassah, the lower Albaicin neighbourhood, the Carrera del Darro riverside promenade and Plaza Nueva.
