The Albayzín 'tablao' or flamenco stage took its name on 13 August 2001 from the neighbourhood in which it lies. Up until that point and since 1971, it had borne the name of the famous Moorish Queen. It has become the last and only tablao in Granada where every night's performance takes the form of “The Perfect Poem of Tears” as depicted by Federico García Lorca.
The 'tablao' is situated on the prestigious San Cristóbal lookout point, a landmark for all visitors to Granada, offering spectacular views of the City, the Alhambra, and the Sierra Nevada mountains.
This flamenco theatre, with its Mudejar décor, is an emblematic feature in the square and stands at the gates to the Albayzin neighbourhood, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
